German Philosophy Workshop

This workshop is a biweekly forum for the study of German philosophy. It operates with a very broad understanding of German Philosophy encompassing: (1) German Idealism and its precursors (with a special emphasis on Kant and Hegel); (2) 19th-century Germany philosophy (esp. Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, neo-Kantianism, neo-Hegelianism, and Marxism); (3) 20th-century German philosophy (esp. the: phenomenological and hermeneutic traditions, as well as critical theory); (4) the development within the Anglophone tradition of central concepts and methods from the German tradition (such as transcendental arguments, genealogical critique, phenomenological method, etc.); and (5) the German tradition in analytic philosophy (from its roots in Frege, through the Vienna Circle, until the present).
